Committee Assignment
The most common approach is assigning AI oversight to an existing board committee. Common Board Governance Failures on AI
Most board AI governance failures follow predictable patterns. Recognizing them is the first step toward correction.
Delegating without accountability. Boards direct management to handle AI governance without establishing reporting structures, accountability mechanisms, or review processes. Management treats this as license to continue existing practices with a new label. Board-level risk oversight requires board-level review, not a delegation letter.
Conflating AI innovation with AI governance. Boards that receive only AI investment and capability presentations see the upside without the risk picture.
